nel centro hosts exclusive dinner with renowned Italian winemaker

(PortlandFoodAndDrink)

On Tuesday, September 14, Chef David Machado will prepare a classic Piedmontese dinner in honor of Giovanni Pasquero Elia of Italy’s famed Paitin Winery. The prix fixe menu will treat diners to a rare selection of Paitin varietals including a 2003 Barbaresco Vecchie Vigne that has the “characteristic intensity and focus of old-vine wines, potent, smoky, spicy, and penetrating in aroma, rich in flavor and with the plush texture, the tightly-packed tannins and caressing tactile sensations of perfectly ripe Nebbiolo.” (Wine Advocate).

If Newberg is so dreary for you, why do you live here? Geek………………….

Roger Porter Comes to Portland Food and Drink – And More!

(PortlandFoodAndDrink)

Great news! Will be nice to see more reviews again, although I’m saddened to hear of your greater medical challenges. You reset the bar for food reviews in this town, and I think that ultimately helps the restaurants who do high-quality work instead of focusing on schmoozing.

Seems like you oughtta request donations of those sending you press releases, too…

adéu,
Mateu

This article really needs some proofing and editing. Oh…and, I love Thistle.

Remembering Food …

(PortlandFoodAndDrink)

Goodness, all us 1963ers are still around, rustling though our memories from The Assassination. There is a great play about day Kennedy was shot, I think it was written in the late seventies, called Kennedy’s Children by Rbt Patrick…tis a great story at a bar with several different characters never interacting but all intersecting and essentially delivering monologues about where they were on Nov 22…kind of like Facebook and this site…all of us doing monologues- kind of obliquely connecting due to our histories and happenstances….love those fried bologna sandwiches…lovely writing.

Newberg is dreary… I live here too. And the stretch to McMinnville’s Third Street is pretty miserable along 99W too. However, Thistle rocks and I think Roger very aptly and relatively objectively (as objective as a review can be, right?) described its offerings. I’m not much interested in what critics have to say but, ironically, wanted to hear what was said about Thistle. Thanks for a constructive perspective, both positive and negative, without slanderous drivel.
