Time to start thinking about updating the list. This thread is meant to collection suggestions and feedback.

Two places closed, Asian Station and Cava, and so they're easily replaced by two notable openings, Beaker & Flask and Gruner. Gotta be room for Spints Alehouse, too. Is Sel Gris re-opening?

Other places may have dropped off in relevance, like Bastas, Cafe Nell, Siam Society, maybe Byways Cafe, maybe Departure.

Shall we replace Dang's Thai Kitchen with Red Onion? And what about the new Mee-Sen?

What about new programs like Castagna or Ten01? What's going to happen with Belly Timber? What about Belmont Station, Bailey's Taproom, Waffle Window, Acropolis, Simpatica, Navarre and Tabla?

Should the list include more beer and coffee? More carts? Less obscure spots?

Same rules: places only mentioned once, and only one dish at each place. The dish doesn't necessarily have to be the best or your favorite, but is unique or special in terms of the Portland dining scene as a whole.

I like the idea of starting over for a 2010 edition. So a place may still be on the list, but the item has to be new. Throwing out a couple:

Spints - Any dirty pretzel. Chicken puff pastry pie, apple tart

JCD restaurant - Pajeon (seafood pancake), tong dak (fried chicken)

Gruner - venison terrine, choucroute, short rib goulash

Jade Teahouse - Hum bao w/egg and vietnamese meatball (maybe the best "scotch egg" in town)

I guess I will start!

Cassidy's-Harrisa Prawns w/lemon cous cous and black bean puree.

Tanuki-Buta No Kokane(braised pork shoulder).

Apizza Scholls-ItsIt's(I know, the pizza would be an obvious choice, yes it's great but these delicious ice cream sandwiches really have no rival!).

Ten-01-Pork Heart Pastrami. could you think of a better three words together?

Spints-any terrine or house made bread.

Beaker&Flask-Millas.

I got to drop in the Rabbit Spatzle at Gruner. Had it Saturday night and it was so very good. My wife actually ordered and I ended up eating like a 1/3 of it. I am not sure she has forgiven as of yet.

I like the idea of having all new dishes for the 2010 list. It might be a bit hard for a place like Huber's (I mean, would you want anything other than Spanish coffee?), Nong's Khao Man Gai or Metrovino (although Alu has an automated wine saver, too) and but hey that's what exploration is for.

Other places that I think are deserving of spots: Chicago's Windy City, the pizza carts, Olympic Provisions, and Prost.

LA Weekly is putting out JGold's list of 99 Things to Eat in LA before you die, and I just love the fact that the Donut Man strawberry donut is on the cover.

This could get down to some serious funkiness in future years if you cannot reuse anything.

I am calling the Crispy Meat Burrito from the Taco Time on Interstate for the 2018 list.
